All of the
deceased's assets need to be listed and a valuation placed
on them. Once Probate is granted, any money forming part of
the Estate can be transferred to the appropriate account under
the control of the Executors, or directly to the beneficiary
in some circumstances.
We have provided pre-formatted letters that can be amended
and sent to the various Banks, Building Societies, Insurance
companies, Stockbrokers, Share Registrars etc. These will
request access to accounts and the money held within their
organisation.
If company shares are involved there
is a facility available for share valuation (click
here for share valuation service) and a link to
various share Registrars to search for other shares held in
the name of the deceased (refer to the menu).
There is also a facility to link to
other Web-sites for the valuation of personal effects and
house clearance where required.
Where land or property is involved any
document required to transfer ownership will require the services
of a solicitor.
As the Assets are identified, we would
recommend that the details are stored in the 'Assets
Spreadsheet'.
This will provide a comprehensive record
that can be updated with numbers and values etc. as they are
identified and can automatically be used for Inheritance Tax
purposes.
