Need help closing a bank account of a Deceased person ?
Have you been asked by a bank for probate ? if so we can help.
Probate is the process that is followed after someone has died in the UK. It ends with the probate courts issuing a legal document called a grant of probate when there is a will to the Executor or a Grant of letters of administration to the Administrator when there is no will. It is this document that the banks will require to close an account of a Deceased person.
Confusion often arises as a lot of banks have differing policies in regard to the amounts as to when they will release accounts when a person has died. Typically, the majority of banks have
a limit of £15,000. Thus if the balance exceeds this they will require probate. If below this they will require a small estate form completing by the administrator or executor.
